Neal Young, editorial and community manager
Neal found the Enthusiast Group by random chance, but it sure seemed like fate when he realized they were looking for someone with a resume as schizophrenic as his. After less-than-lucrative stints as a long haul trucker, pizza chef and ski shop tuner (obtained to finance his skiing, surfing, climbing and riding habits), Neal ("finally" – Dad) put his English and Communication degrees from U.C. Davis to work at Mountain News Corporation in Orinda, California, a leading ski industry media company. Hired as a producer of its overnight radio ski reports, he eventually moved on to its Media Relations department as a ski resort account manager. Born with wanderlust but saddled with annoying things like rent and bills, and thinking that the next best thing to actually traveling is writing about traveling, Neal then landed a gig at Backroads, Inc. He spent two years as a staff writer for the Berkeley, California-based adventure travel outfitter salivating over and writing about the company’s worldwide menu of trips. That’s when he traded in the waves of California for the mountains of Colorado and landed at the Enthusiast Group, where he works on projects from general community oversight and website development to writing content and producing videos.
Neal and his girlfriend, Abby, live in Boulder with their four bikes, five pairs of skis, one skateboard and three little-used wetsuits.
