Walker Thompson, YourMTB.com enthusiast-in-chief
Walker (blog) began his cycling obsession at the age of ten. Encouraged by his family, Walker's racing took shape on the many trails throughout Oklahoma and the Southeast. Walker was successful as a young racer. However, after enjoying many competitive achievements in the prairies and pines, he took a break during the 2001 season to pursue more challenging and epic riding throughout the Four Corners region. After a year of training in Colorado, Utah and Arizona, Walker jumped back into racing with a stronger set of skills. He now is based out of Durango, Colorado, a place he calls home, where his passion for mountain biking has extended well beyond racing.
This absolute zeal is one for the outdoors, wilderness, open space, and the unique landscape where our trails travel and our minds unwind. In an effort to keep these beautiful places available for future generations, Walker began contributing to trail and wilderness advocacy groups, such as Trails 2000, a local Colorado non-profit, as well as the International Mountain Biking Association. His contributions can also be found in his writing - editorials, articles, and posts that create awareness and excitement in all that he is passionate about.
