We're looking for top athlete editors (ongoing)
The Enthusiast Group is seeking professional or semi-professional athletes in various sports and recreational activities who possess excellent writing and media skills, for part-time contract positions with our websites.
If this describes you, or you know of someone who fits that description, please contact the publisher, Steve Outing, at publisher@enthusiastgroup.com.
OUR ENTHUSIASTS-IN-CHIEF
... and you?
The "Enthusiast-in-Chief"
Enthusiast Group websites are based on the concept of "citizen media," which simply means that much of the content on the sites is created and driven by site users who wish to share their stories, photos and videos with fellow enthusiasts. The sites are active and fun online communities where everyone contributes.
But each site is led by the Enthusiast-in-Chief, who serves as the chief evangelist and community leader.
Here's what an Enthusiast-in-Chief does:
- Writes a regular blog about his/her sport.
- Records a weekly podcast.
- Records periodic videos of his/her participation in the sport.
- Answers user questions (Ask the Expert).
- Participates in forum discussions.
- Comments on content and otherwise engages with site users.
Time commitment
Being an Enthusiast-in-Chief is roughly a 10-hour per week commitment -- though putting in more time and effort can mean higher earnings.
These positions are ideal for an athlete/writer who is making a living at his or her sport, but needs supplemental income and has a block of time available each week. If you're trying to make a living entirely from your sport, being an Enthusiast-in-Chief can help you attain that goal.
"Celebrity" status is a big plus
While we don't expect our Enthusiasts-in-Chief to be as famous as Lance Armstrong (he doesn't need a part-time job), we favor candidates who have some level of celebrity status within their sport.
Are you at the top levels of your sport? Do you get mentioned in magazines covering your sport? Are you sponsored by companies supporting your sport? ... Then you're an ideal candidate for one of these positions.
Benefits of being an Enthusiast-in-Chief
These are contract positions, and the work is very flexible. Our EICs typically travel frequently and fit in work for their websites around their schedules. Posting to the websites can be done wherever you may be -- as long as you can find an Internet connection.
EICs are paid a set monthly fee, plus a significant share of ad and sponsor revenues earned by the website. We make it worth your while.
We're looking for athelete/writers for these sports and recreational activities:
Short-term EIC opportunities:
- Birding / bird watching
- Skateboarding
- Body building
- Road biking
- Horses
Other EIC opportunities:
- Fly fishing
- Triathlon
- Backpacking / hiking
- RVing
- Kayaking (river and sea)
- Rodeo
- Motocross / dirt bikes
- Rafting
- Kiteboarding
- Snowboarding
- Snowmobiling
- Skiing
